Walk around the corner from the luxury stores and cafes of Taikoo Li and the noise drops at once. Inside the red walls there is incense and low chanting. Entry is free, and a teahouse in the grounds gives tired shoppers somewhere to sit. The temple traces back to the Tang dynasty, so old halls and a modern shopping district sit on either side of one wall.
