Running since 1923 and now in its fourth generation, it kept one star (as Ma's Kitchen) in the 2027 MICHELIN Guide Chengdu. The room, though, is a loud neighbourhood dining hall rather than hushed fine dining, and most dishes cost ¥50–100. It began selling blood curd with rice, so maoxuewang is the signature, but reviews keep pointing to the kung pao aubergine with prawn balls and the 'saliva chicken'. Queue tickets are capped, so arrive late and you may not get in at all.
