An open-air teahouse in People's Park since 1923. Bamboo chairs and low tables crowd the pond's edge, and tea comes in lidded gaiwan cups that staff keep topping up with hot water. Ear cleaners wander by clinking their steel tools, and old men slap down mahjong tiles. The way to do it: order tangyou guozi (fried, sugar-glazed rice balls) or wontons with your tea and sit for an hour or two. There's also a performance option where staff pour from a long-spouted kettle with a flourish.
