Huanglongxi Town, Shuangliu District, about 40 km south of central Chengdu

Low-eaved shops and teahouses crowd both sides of the stone lanes, and the lanes end at the river. A slow lap takes half a day. The town itself is free, and a few temples charge about ¥1. It is the easiest ancient town to reach from Chengdu, so weekends get crowded.
