Colon Street wears the label of the oldest street in the Philippines. Markers from 1961 and 1999 repeat the claim, though historians point out no record places a street here in 1565. Today it is no preserved quarter but a loud downtown strip of budget clothing shops, old cinema signs and jeepney exhaust. That is the appeal: you see how Cebuanos actually shop and move. Walk toward Parian at the southern end and the Heritage of Cebu Monument and the Yap-Sandiego house follow.
