Head south along the Hotel Zone and the wall of resorts suddenly breaks. Through the gap, the whole sea opens up: that's Playa Delfines. Up on the lookout stand the brightly painted CANCÚN letters, so everyone takes the photo first, then walks down. Below there are no resorts and no snack bars, just a handful of thatched shades and sand, the least built-up beach in the Hotel Zone. It faces the open Caribbean head-on, though, so the surf is strong; this is a beach for looking and walking more than swimming.
