La Habichuela

La Habichuela Centro

Since 1977: Caribbean seafood in a garden full of Maya carvings

Hours
Daily 12:30–23:00 (official Spanish page; English footer says noon–midnight)
Budget
MX$600–1,000 per person
Address
Calle Margaritas 25, Downtown (north of Parque de las Palapas)

A downtown institution since 1977. The garden is thick with tropical trees, Maya-style stone carvings peek out between tables, and the lights go soft after dark. Regulars order the 'Crema de Habichuela' bean soup, ceviche, and amaranth-crusted fish, and plenty of tables finish with the flamed 'Café Maya'. It sits just above Parque de las Palapas, so dinner rolls straight into a wander through the park's food stalls.
