Isla Mujeres
Isla Mujeres (Playa Norte)
Loop the island by golf cart, then wade into knee-deep Playa Norte
- Hours
- Puerto Juárez ferries run roughly 5:30am–11pm; Tortugas has only a few sailings a day (check ultramarferry.com)
- Tickets
- No island entry fee. Ultramar ferry 290 pesos one way, 580 return for adults (October 2026 guides). Golf carts rent by the day; prices vary, so haggle
- Address
- Playa Norte at the island's northern tip, roughly a 10-minute walk from the ferry dock in town
Step off the ferry and the golf-cart touts greet you first. The island is only about 7 km long, so one cart covers it in a day. At Playa Norte on the north tip you can wade a long way out without the water reaching your waist, and the white sand and pale water photograph beautifully. At Punta Sur, the southern tip, a clifftop path looks down on the rougher Caribbean. The little town is all painted houses and taco joints, far more laid-back than the Hotel Zone.
