Puerto Morelos Reef and Town

Puerto Morelos

A sleepy fishing town with a reef right off the pier

Hours
Pier and lighthouse are open to walk up to; snorkel tour times vary by operator
Tickets
Lighthouse is free. A reef park fee of roughly US$15–20 is often charged on top of tours
Address
About 20 minutes by car south of Cancún airport; the square and pier are a short walk apart

Head south from the Hotel Zone crowds and you reach this small fishing town. From the square it is a short walk to the old leaning lighthouse and the pier, and the reef protected area lies just offshore. Snorkel boats take you to spots where fish and coral sit under the surface. Tour boats come and go by day, but the town itself stays quiet, a good place for a seafood lunch and an easy wander.
