A hunting lodge used by Khedive Ismail in 1869, turned into a hotel. Lie on a pool lounger and the Pyramid of Khufu fills the gap between the trees. In 1943 Roosevelt, Churchill and Chiang Kai-shek met here for the Cairo Conference, whose declaration promised Korea independence 'in due course'. It has 331 rooms, an outdoor pool and 139 Pavilion, a restaurant facing the pyramids.
