A kifőzde is a Hungarian home-cooking canteen. This one opened on Király utca in spring 1997 and runs a daily-changing menu of fried dishes, pörkölt, főzelék vegetable stews and home-baked cakes. No tablecloths, no fuss, but goulash and chicken paprikash cost about half of what tourist places charge. Office workers and students queue at lunchtime.
