It opened as a beer stand in 1837 and is called Berlin's oldest beer garden (Wikipedia). The heart of it is the courtyard under chestnut trees with 600–800 seats; next door is a year-round restaurant, the Gaststätte. Right now (October) the official site says the beer garden is on winter break, so in autumn and winter you head indoors. It's close to Konnopke's and Mauerpark, a good end to an afternoon in Prenzlauer Berg.
