Address
Schönhauser Allee 44B, Prenzlauer Berg (directly under the U2 viaduct)

A kiosk under the U2 viaduct, trains rattling overhead. Per the official history, Max Konnopke started in 1930 with a sausage kettle hung round his neck, and in 1960 this spot sold East Berlin's first currywurst. It's skinless only, sliced on a paper tray under sauce and curry powder, the sauce still a family recipe. There's a small outdoor seating area beside it.
