A no-frills canteen beside the Drum Tower, where then–Vice President Biden stopped for noodles and buns in 2011. The signature chaogan is a Beijing breakfast stew of pig liver and intestine in a thick, garlicky starch broth. Locals pair it with freshly steamed pork baozi. Pay at the counter first, hand your receipt to the kitchen and carry your food back yourself.
