It opened in 1939 as 'Pad Thai Pratu Phi' and took its current name in 1966. Noodles are tossed over burners at the shopfront, and the signature dish wraps the noodles and prawns in a paper-thin egg crepe; break it open and the smell of prawn oil hits you. Everyone also orders the fresh-squeezed orange juice, pulp and all, served in a bottle and priced close to the pad thai itself. The original stays open till midnight; if the line is too long, there are branches at ICONSIAM and Siam Paragon.
