A Brahma statue sits on one corner of an intersection ringed by malls and hotels, and the air in front of it is hazy with incense all day. People whose wishes came true hire dancers in traditional dress, with musicians playing alongside. Stand ten minutes among the flower, incense and golden elephant offerings and you get a feel for the city. There is not much to see, so it slots in easily between shopping stops.
