Food from Isan, Thailand's northeast, in a clean, cool room: a common first stop for newcomers. Pounded green-papaya som tam is the base, then corn som tam, garlicky fried chicken and grilled pork neck, all eaten with sticky rice balled up in your fingers. The small original is down a Siam Square lane, with branches at CentralWorld and elsewhere. Pricier than the street, but clean, air-conditioned and card-friendly.
