A spring temple said to date from the 10th century. Water bubbling out of the ground is channelled into stone pools and out through dozens of carved spouts, and Balinese worshippers wade in to waist height, praying and ducking their heads under each spout in turn. Visitors can join this purification ritual, melukat, after renting a ritual sarong. In the inner spring pool you can watch water pushing up through black sand. It is much colder than you expect.
