The tasting room (proeflokaal) of Wynand Fockink, distilling in this 1679 building since 1724. It's in an alley just behind Dam Square, yet inside the wooden bar looks unchanged since the 17th century. Glasses are filled to the brim, so tradition says you bend down and sip the first mouthful without lifting it. Order a 'kopstootje', genever with a beer chaser. There are plenty of liqueurs too, from lemon to liquorice.
