The building was made to show off the Habsburg collections, so the grand staircase alone is all ceiling paintings and marble. The picture gallery hangs Bruegel's Tower of Babel and Hunters in the Snow in one room, followed by Raphael, Velázquez and Caravaggio. The café under the cupola needs a museum ticket and is often called the prettiest café in Vienna. Allow half a day to see it properly.
