Address
The white stone bridge over the Grand Canal. Shops line the steps on top; the Rialto market is on the San Polo side

The oldest and best known of the Grand Canal bridges; the stone version went up at the end of the 16th century. Shops run down the middle of the steps, and from the outer railings the canal bends away in an S right in front of you. Gondolas, vaporetti and delivery boats pass underneath non-stop. Walk down the San Polo side and you're in the Rialto market, which only runs in the morning, so come early and do both.
