Cross the road from Harajuku Station's Takeshita exit and a narrow lane drops away under the '竹下通り' arch. Primary-coloured shopfronts crowd both sides: cheap fashion, accessories, Sanrio and character shops, a Daiso, and a permanent queue outside Marion Crêpes. On weekend afternoons the whole lane is wall-to-wall and you're mostly looking at the back of someone's head. At the bottom it spills across Meiji-dori towards Omotesando and Cat Street, and most people skim Takeshita and do their real shopping over there.
