It's only a 183 m neighbourhood hill, but the stone steps start at the trailhead and don't let up. After 20–30 sweaty minutes you pass a string of lookouts, and the best perch is on the big rocks known as the Six Boulders. Taipei 101 stands right at eye level with the Xinyi towers fanned out behind it. Stay through sunset and you watch the sky go from orange to navy as 101 lights up, all for free. Plenty of people say the photos from here, with 101 in them, beat the view from inside the tower.
