The coffee stall Loi Ah Koon started after arriving from Hainan in 1926 settled here at Far East Square in 1998, and this is still the flagship. The star is kaya toast: thin, crisp toast sandwiching coconut-egg jam and a cold slab of butter. Dip it in soft-boiled eggs seasoned with soy and white pepper, and drink thick, sweet kopi alongside. It has reopened after a refurbishment (official site).
