The oldest of Lujiazui's three supertalls opened in 1999. A lift from the B1 ticket desk reaches the 340 m deck on the 88th floor in about 45 seconds. Out the windows the Oriental Pearl sits right at eye level; at the inner railing the Grand Hyatt's round atrium drops away in rings of gold light, dozens of floors down. It's lower than the Shanghai Tower, but the city still reads as a city from here, and plenty of reviewers say the photos come out better.
