A round bullring of white walls trimmed in ochre stands on the riverbank. Work began in the 18th century and took nearly 120 years, and bullfights are still held here during the spring festivals. The tour takes you through the stands, out onto the sand, into the chapel where matadors prayed, and round the bullfighting museum. Even without seeing a fight, standing in the middle of the ring gives you a feel for what it meant to this city. If bullfighting itself bothers you, give it a miss.
