Oia is a village of white houses stacked down the top of the caldera cliff. By day you wander the marble main lane past galleries and shops, hunting for the blue-domed churches and the windmills. Late in the afternoon everyone heads for the ruined castle at the western tip. As the sun sinks the white walls go orange, and when it touches the horizon the crowd breaks into applause. It looks exactly like the postcards; just know that hundreds of people are standing in the postcard with you.
