Megalochori is a quiet village where the old wine merchants lived. Wander its white lanes and you come to a bell tower arching right over the path; most photos of the village are taken here. Behind the walls hide old wine cellars and mansions, and the main square gathers tavernas under shade trees. Outside the village the vines grow in Santorini's low basket coils along the ground. Walk toward the caldera and there are clifftop wineries for sunset.
