Zigzag up through pine forest, come out onto open grass, and there it is: the Basket of Dreams, a big woven-steel sculpture on the hillside. Stand inside and the lake, the town and the airport out at Frankton spread out through the frame; there's usually a short queue for photos. The Remarkables sit right in front of you, bigger than from the gondola, and plenty of people reckon this view beats it. It's free, and you'll earn it.
