A resort-style five-star about 5 km east of town, inside Kawarau Village where Lake Wakatipu drains into the Kawarau River. There is an indoor pool, a sauna and a spa, plus an outdoor fireplace with lake views. The airport is very close, which makes it easy for first and last nights, and the roads to Glenorchy, Arrowtown and Wanaka are straightforward from here. The catch: getting into town each evening means a car or taxi.
