A tiny hotel in a stone building that has stood by the Lake Wakatipu wharf since the 1860s gold rush. The Michelin Guide counts just five suites, each with a wood-burning fireplace, a super-king bed and possum-fur throws. Downstairs is Eichardt's Bar, one of the oldest in town and packed with the lakefront crowd in the evening. It holds one Michelin Key and is among the priciest nights you can spend in Queenstown.
