This is how Qingdao people eat dinner. Buy clams, whelks and crab from the Yingkou Road market stalls, carry them across the street to a beer house, and for a small fee they steam or stir-fry it for you. Erjie is one of those beer houses, a big open-front place that also grills skewers. Draft beer comes in a plastic bag or a big mug, sipped through a straw. It's a market street, so don't expect polish.
