A big rock standing alone in the water is this beach's signature, named for its resemblance to a stooped old man. At low tide the rocky shore near it opens up and kids go poking around the tidal pools. In swimming season the sand is covered with people; in autumn and early morning it is far more relaxed. The metro stops right here, so it is an easy trip from downtown.
