A grand café that opened in 1902. Its own timeline says the student Kafka and Max Brod came to a philosophy circle here, and that Einstein, then teaching at the German University, was a regular. Most people come for cake, but it also does Czech mains: on the October 2026 menu, svíčková and beef shin goulash are 359 Kč each and warm apple strudel 109 Kč. Further in is one of Prague's best-known old billiard rooms.
