The beach in front of Rach Vem fishing village on the north coast; the last stretch may be unpaved

It is a shallow bay, so on clear days you see orange and red starfish scattered through ankle- to knee-deep water. The usual routine is seafood at one of the stilt restaurants, then a wade out to look. It is less a swimming beach than a place to dip your feet, take photos and move on. Some days, depending on the sea, there are far fewer starfish.
