Address
Tsuboya 1-chome, Naha, about 10 minutes south of Kokusai-dori through the Heiwa-dori arcade

The noise of Kokusai-dori stops dead at the end of the arcade and you're on a stone-paved lane about 400 metres long. Kilns have clustered here since the 17th century, so both sides are lined with yachimun (Okinawan for pottery) shops: chunky plates with fish patterns, cobalt cups, shisa on the rooftops. An hour slips by easily. Down a side alley, an old red-tiled hillside kiln still stands. It's quiet enough to just stroll.
