The road runs straight across the sea for about two kilometres from Yagaji Island to Kouri. Shallow coral sand turns the water on both sides a milky emerald, and drivers slow down without meaning to. The usual plan is to stop at Kouri Beach at the island end for a swim or a bridge photo, then loop the island to Heart Rock on the north shore. The ring road takes only about 15 minutes by car.
