A straight mile through the middle of Naha. Shisa figurines, purple sweet potato tarts and awamori shops line both sides without a break, and in the evening sanshin music drifts out of the doorways. The fun is in the covered arcades that branch off it: duck into Heiwa-dori and you can walk straight through to Makishi market and the Tsuboya pottery lanes. When it rains, the arcades keep you dry.
