Blue Seal started in an ice-cream plant on a US base and became Okinawa's own ice cream. The Kokusai-dori shop, under its blue sign, always has people coming and going; grab a scoop and keep walking. The island flavours sell best: purple sweet potato (beni-imo), salted chinsuko (a local shortbread) and shikuwasa citrus. The Makiminato flagship in Urasoe is temporarily closed, so this is the easiest one in town.
