Kasugayama Primeval Forest

春日山原始林

A cedar forest walk without the deer crowds

Hours
Open at all times (return before dark)
Address
Kasugayama walking trail, Nara

The mountain behind Kasuga Taisha is old forest. Felling has been banned since 841, so the cedars and oaks grow thick. The trail is well kept and gentle, sneakers are enough, and unlike the park there are few deer and few people. It also connects to the Wakakusa-yama summit.
