Melbourne has one of the biggest Greek communities outside Greece, and this stretch of Lonsdale Street is its precinct. Stalactites opened here in 1978 and the same family runs it with the same recipes on the same corner. Lamb or chicken gyros comes off the spit into a pita wrap or onto a plate with dips like tzatziki. Fridays and Saturdays it's open till 2 am, the most reliable late-night light in the CBD.
