Melbourne Museum

An indoor forest and Aboriginal stories

Hours
Daily 10am-5pm
Address
11 Nicholson St, inside Carlton Gardens, right beside the Royal Exhibition Building

A living forest grows right inside the building, with birdsong and dripping water carrying up to the glass roof. Nearby halls hold huge dinosaur skeletons, Melbourne's city history and a gallery on the Aboriginal cultures of Victoria. It is an easy way to spend a few hours on a rainy day or in midsummer heat. Afterwards, the lawns of Carlton Gardens next door finish the day.
