Turn off Flinders Street into a narrow cobbled lane and every surface, from the bluestone at your feet to the drainpipes up top, is layered with spray paint. Pieces get painted over within days, so the wall in last week's photos probably isn't there anymore. When you're done, walk west to Degraves Street and Centre Place, lanes barely wide enough for two people, lined with outdoor tables and the hiss of espresso machines. It's the fastest way to get what Melbourne's coffee fuss is about.
