Medina souks

أسواق مراكش (Souk Semmarine)

A maze of lantern, leather and spice lanes

⚠ Haggle; ignore 'helpful' guides

Hours
Varies by shop, roughly 9–10am to 8–9pm; check on the day
Address
The lanes from the arch on the north side of Jemaa el-Fnaa (Souk Semmarine) up to Ben Youssef Madrasa

Pass the arch on the north side of the square and you're in lanes where sunlight drops through reed roofing in stripes. Each lane has its trade: hammering means the metalworkers' souk (Haddadine) beating brass lanterns, a tickle in the nose means the spice square (Rahba Kedima). Babouche slippers, carpets, argan oil, silver teapots, it's all here. You will get lost. That's normal; trust your map app and wander slowly.
