At the entrance to the Kasbah, on the way to the Saadian Tombs and El Badi Palace

A single arch opens in a red sandstone wall, ringed by layers of kufic script, scallops and floral corners. It's an Almohad-era gate into the Kasbah. The flanking towers are long gone, leaving the gate standing alone, which makes the carving easier to read. At sunset the stone turns deep orange and photographs well. Cars and scooters keep passing, so watch your back when shooting from the roadside.
