'Bahia' means 'brilliance' in Arabic. A grand vizier extended this house in stages in the late 1800s, so rooms and courtyards run into each other like a maze. The show is overhead: carved and painted cedar ceilings, zellige tiles up the lower walls, plaster carved like lace. There's almost no furniture, just empty rooms covered in pattern. The big marble courtyard is blinding at midday, so bring sunglasses.
