Maafushi is the budget island: guesthouses and hotels instead of resorts. Bikini Beach is the stretch at the north end set aside for tourists. The white sand and clear emerald water hold up against any resort, and hotels like Arena Beach and Kaani sit right behind it, so the sand is lined with loungers and umbrellas. Alcohol is banned on the island, so a boat moored offshore works as a floating bar. Away from the beach, cover shoulders and knees in the village.
