The gold dome you notice first when your boat pulls into Malé belongs to this mosque. It holds 5,000 worshippers, the largest in the Maldives, and also houses the Islamic Centre and a library. Visitors can go in outside prayer times. The prayer hall is wrapped in carved wood and calligraphy panels, with long chandeliers hanging over the carpet.
