The Jesuits built the fort in the early 1600s, and old cannons still line its round ramparts. From the wall you look down on the back of St. Paul's, with the casino towers beyond. The Macao Museum is buried inside the fort and walks through fishing-village days, Portuguese rule and today's festivals with models and dioramas. After the galleries, the rampart stroll feels like fresh air.
