Twenty-odd minutes by bus from the Cotai casinos, you reach a fishing village where time seems to have stopped. The small cream-coloured Chapel of St Francis Xavier sits on a wave-paved square, with mainland Zhuhai just across the channel. Lord Stow's Bakery, which popularised the Macanese egg tart, has its original shop here, and that's what brings most people. Walk the waterfront to the Tam Kong Temple at the end and you get a sense of what Macau used to be.
